Terms of Use

Last updated: 22 August 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Thomas Karamanlis, a sole trader trading as Basketly ("Basketly", "we", "us"), based in England, United Kingdom. By creating an account or using the Basketly app or website, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Basketly. Contact: privacy@basketly.uk.

1. What Basketly is

Basketly helps you turn recipes into estimated supermarket shopping baskets: it suggests products for recipe ingredients, shows indicative prices, builds weekly meal plans, and helps you plan shopping trips. Basketly is only a tool that helps you organise a basket — it does not sell groceries, process payments, or place orders with supermarkets, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by any supermarket.

You use Basketly as a tool, conscious of these terms: every suggestion in the app — recipes, products, prices, quantities, dietary labels — is an idea to help you organise, not advice to rely on. The agency and the final decision are always yours: what to cook and what not to, which ingredients to use and which not to, and what to buy. You are responsible for spotting mistakes, and for not consuming anything you are allergic or intolerant to.

2. Who can use it

You must be 17 or older and capable of entering into this agreement. You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in details secure.

3. Recipes, dietary information and allergens — please read carefully

Recipes in Basketly (including "Find me a recipe") are generated with the help of AI and may contain mistakes. They are ideas, not instructions you can rely on without checking. You must review every recipe — its ingredients, quantities, and preparation — before cooking or consuming anything. The final decision about what to cook, what ingredients to use, and what to eat is always yours.

Gluten-free — please read. We only show recipes where every gluten ingredient can be swapped for a gluten-free product, and we swap them automatically. Always check the packaging before buying — only products labelled gluten-free are certified (20ppm gluten or less), and cross-contamination can still occur.

Dairy-free — please read. We only show recipes where every dairy ingredient can be swapped for a dairy-free product, and we swap them automatically. Always check the label before buying — dairy-free and may-contain-milk warnings vary by product.

If you have an allergy or dietary intolerance, you are responsible for checking every product and every recipe before consuming it, and for not consuming anything that could harm you. Basketly is a planning tool, not medical, nutritional or dietary advice. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no responsibility for loss or harm arising from recipes, ingredient swaps, or dietary or allergen information shown in the app.

4. Prices, stock and availability — please read carefully

Basketly shows estimated prices and stock from each supermarket's general catalogue, not your local branch, and loyalty-card prices aren't included. Please confirm prices and availability in-store.

All prices in Basketly are estimates. Prices are drawn from catalogue data and third-party price services; some are cached or store-level estimates, and even "live" prices reflect the moment they were looked up, not the moment you shop. Quantities and pack multipliers (for example "× 2") are calculated estimates of what would cover your recipes and may not match your needs exactly.

Stocks are not guaranteed. You must confirm the real prices when you reach the till and the availability once you reach the supermarket. A product shown in Basketly may be unavailable, differently sized, or differently priced in store. The price charged at the supermarket till is the only binding price. We accept no responsibility for differences between the app's estimates and what you find or pay in store.

5. Acceptable use

You may only use Basketly for its intended purpose: planning your own household shopping. You agree not to:

6. Your content

Recipes, plans and lists you create remain yours. You give us the limited permission needed to store and process them so the app can work (see our Privacy Policy).

You also agree that we may create, use and commercialise anonymised, aggregated statistics derived from use of the service (for example, overall shopping and price-switching trends across many users). These statistics never include information that identifies you, and how we prepare them is described in section 5 of our Privacy Policy.

7. Our content and brand

The Basketly name, design, code and content are our property or used under licence. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own household shopping planning. Supermarket names and product names belong to their respective owners and are used to identify products only.

Reporting copyright concerns: we respect the intellectual property of others. If you believe any material available through Basketly infringes a copyright you own or control, notify us at privacy@basketly.uk with details of the material and your rights, and we will review and respond promptly. Please note that knowingly making material misrepresentations in such a notice can make you liable for damages.

8. Third-party services

Basketly relies on third-party services (sign-in, price data, maps, hosting). We are not responsible for their availability or accuracy, and your use of map services may be subject to their own terms.

9. Service availability and changes

Basketly is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, suspend, or discontinue features (or the service) and may update these terms — for significant changes we will tell you in the app, and continued use after changes take effect means the updated terms apply. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, and an account closed for breach may not be re-registered under the same or a different name. Information in the service may occasionally contain errors or omissions — including product descriptions, prices and availability — and we may correct or update it at any time without notice. Your baskets, plans and saved recipes are stored on your own device; please note we cannot restore data lost from your device.

10. Liability

Basketly is only a tool and, to the fullest extent permitted by law, accepts no responsibility for anything arising from your use of it. It helps you organise a basket; it does not decide, verify, or guarantee anything for you. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that the law of England and Wales does not allow to be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud — and consumers keep their statutory rights. Subject only to that: we are not liable for any losses arising from your use of Basketly, including losses from reliance on recipes, estimates, dietary labels, prices, stock or availability information as described in sections 3 and 4, or indirect or consequential losses of any kind. Basketly is currently free, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service — currently £0.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction — though if you live in another part of the UK you keep any rights the law there gives you. Before bringing any formal claim, please contact us at privacy@basketly.uk — most concerns can be resolved quickly and informally.

12. General

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about Basketly. If any part of these terms is found unlawful or unenforceable, that part is severed and the rest continues in force. If we don't enforce a right under these terms, that is not a waiver of it. We may assign our rights and obligations under these terms (for example, to a company we incorporate); you may not assign yours. We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control. Communications between us may be electronic — using Basketly, or emailing us, satisfies any requirement that a communication be in writing.

13. Mobile app stores

If in future you use Basketly through an app obtained from the Apple App Store or Google Play, your use is also subject to that store's terms, the store operator is not responsible for Basketly and has no maintenance or support obligations for it, and the store operator is a third-party beneficiary of these terms with the right to enforce them against you.

Consumers keep all statutory rights that cannot be excluded by agreement. Nothing here reduces your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
